USABILITY AND DESIGN
Medical devices are becoming increasingly complex. This leads to a complicated usablity and thus to application errors. In addition, more and more patients are acting as operators. Many of the medical devices that have been developed without using the ergonomics process are not intuitive and difficult to use. Good usability and associated optimized design are becoming more and more important. The standard ISO 62366-1, which is part of the requlatory affairs and requires a usability process driven development. Anyone who includes the users in the development process and understands their requirements and needs secures himself a competitive advantage.
Design / Interface / Graphic
For most developers, the main focus lies not on the design but on the technology development. The crucial difference for the success of a product lies in an optimized design and functionality. For example, a good design stands out for its obvious intended use and its ergonomic buttons, such that the user operates almost automatically.
Outstanding quality can only be achieved by combining design and function. A necessary prerequisite is a continous design process starting from the idea to the market launch. Companies that recognize this and are committed to it are proven to be more successful than others.
